Meghan Trainor brought her “Timeless” tour to the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024. Her husband Daryl Sabara made an appearance during the sing “Doin’ It All For You.”

Meghan Trainor brought her Timeless tour to Pittsburgh on Friday night — her first tour in eight years — and with it came a flourish of metallic, blues and sparkles.

The 30-year-old singer-songwriter is now a mom of two boys, Riley and Barry, and she fittingly opened her spirited concert at the Petersen Events Center with her hit “Mother,” which featured moon imagery while she was singing from a raised pillar.

Trainor wore a black, sparkly ensemble complete with a short skirt, black high boots and black gloves. She wore her blonde hair down in long, crimped waves.

While performing “Don’t I Make It Look Easy,” she replaced the word “baby” with “Pittsburgh.” She then transitioned to an old hit from her 2015 album “Title” — “Lips Are Movin” — under hot pink lights.

“Y’all got my heart pounding,” she said to the audience, which was 7,300 people strong in the Peterson Events Center. “I can’t believe you’re here; thank you so much for waiting eight years for me.”

She told the audience to “wave me down if someone needs help” just in case something were to happen.

“I will help you,” she told the crowd, before wishing a “happy birthday” to those who came to the concert to celebrate.

Trainor then performed “No Excuses,” “Crushin’” and “Bestie,” which featured fun moves from her dancers. “No Excuses,” a bubbly, bass-filled tune had people screaming in excitement.

“Two of my dancers have the flu,” she told the audience, which is why there were four instead of six onstage.

“Better When I’m Dancin’” was an upbeat crowd-pleaser. Typically featuring light melodies, the refrain was turned into a sort of club remix version for the concert.

One of Trainor’s most well-known songs, “Title,” was next, which she played on the ukulele. She thanked the audience for blowing the song up on TikTok despite it being from 2015.

Trainor also asked people who were attending their first concert ever to cheer, as many were holding signs denoting it. The arena erupted in loud cheers, as many families with younger children were in attendance.

“Forget How to Love” was dedicated to Chris Olsen, who was Trainor’s opener and is one of her best friends.

“I love you, bestie,” she said before singing the tune, which featured a wind effect that blew her hair around like a movie star.

Trainor dedicated her next song, “Superwoman,” to all the parents in the room. The emotional performance featured rainbow lights. She continued with the ballad theme, singing “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” as well, while playing on the piano.

“This part of the show I get too emotional — I have to not cry,” she said. “I’m an emotional person.”

For each of the slow tunes, Trainor asked the crowd to put their phone lights on to wave around.

“I know I ask for your lights up all the time, but it just looks so cool,” she gushed.

Her iconic anthem, “Dear Future Husband,” was next, much to her fans’ enjoyment, followed by “Crowded Room,” with twerking from the Trainor and her dance team.

For “Doin’ It All For You,” Trainor brought her husband, Daryl Sabara (“Spy Kids”), onstage with her to dance.

Perhaps Trainor’s most popular tune, “All About That Bass,” sparked chants from the crowd to the words.

The self-proclaimed “dance section” of the concert was next, with a lineup of confident songs including “Wave,” “Genetics,” “No” and “Hate It Here,” which included solos for each of her dancers as they were introduced.

“I hope you brought your sneakers, and you drink your water,” Trainor told the crowd before segueing into hit “Me Too,” which featured strobe lights and silhouettes.

She then performed three more high-energy numbers, “Whoops,” which is about the other woman, “To The Moon,” which featured a planet, galaxy motifs and sunglasses,” as well as “Been Like This,” which was one of the best dance numbers of the show and featured a holographic T-Pain singing alongside her.

Before coming out for the encore, a video of Trainor, her husband and two boys played on the big screen — to which the crowd cheered.

She sang “Timeless,” before heading back in the air on the pillar for “I Wanna Thank Me.” A fan in the audience gave her a bouquet of roses.

“Can my sleeping babies hear you on the bus?” Trainor asked, as she encouraged the crowd to sing along.

A colorful rendition of her current No. 1 hit on Spotify, “Made You Look,” closed out the tour.

Before Trainor had taken the stage, opening act Chris Olsen, a famous TikToker with 13 million followers and 1.3 billion likes, performed wearing sparkly blue Louboutin boots.

He’s also close friends with TikTokers Abbie and Josh Herbert, who live in Pittsburgh and attended Friday’s concert. Both Olsen and Trainor shouted them out and pointed up to where they were standing so the audience could see.

“I love it here,” Olsen said of Pittsburgh.

He performed a rendition of “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from the musical “Grease” and “Part of Your World” from Disney musical “The Little Mermaid” — while making jokes with the crowd.

“We need a Meghan Trainor Broadway musical,” he said.

Before Olsen, Trainor’s older brother, Ryan, hyped up the crowd as DJ with fan-favorites like Taylor Swift’s “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” and Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!”

“Pittsburgh, you’re my favorite so far,” he said, compared to all of the other tour stops.

Ahead of the night’s music, messages encouraging fans to donate to Feeding America and help end gun violence were projected onto the large monitors from Trainor’s team.
