A Pittsburgh breath mints company will be part of the Grammy Awards on Sunday.
Movemints LLC, based in Aspinwall, was invited to share its breath mints in the Grammy gift bags distributed to all the award ceremony’s guests. The music awards ceremony will air at 8 p.m. Feb. 10 on CBS.
David Pechersky, founder and CEO of the company, developed the mints in 2014 for people who wear clear jaw aligners and removable braces or retainers.
“For a young company like ours to be recognized and invited to participate is an incredible testament to the hard work and hustle we’ve put into this venture,” Pechersky said a in a news release.
As an orthodontist with practices in Squirrel Hill, Mars and Monroeville, Pechersky found himself recommending “MacGyver tactics” to his patients using removable braces or retainers to “seat” them comfortably in the mouth, according to a blog post on Movemints’ website.
“And that’s what ultimately led me to design a mint to fit my patient’s clear aligners. Movemints are the one and only ‘Mint that Fits,’ the one and only edible item that will help keep your trays tight and your treatment on track,” reads the blog post.
The company is excited to be part of the 61st annual Grammy Awards.
The breath mints can be purchased on the company’s website or on Amazon. Movemints will donate 10 percent of its proceeds through the end of the week to Keep a Child Alive, a foundation that supports children in Africa and India fighting HIV and AIDS.
