Garth Brooks is the biggest-selling event in Heinz Field history. And he hasn’t even taken the stage yet.
According to Nick Sero, Heinz Field corporate communications manager, 72,887 tickets have been sold for the 7 p.m. May 18 concert, with Texas-based Midland as the opening act.
The number could top 75,000 as the show date draws closer when suites and additional seating that may be added are counted, Sero says.
The next-highest selling “performance” at Heinz Field? That would be the 2016 Pitt-Penn State game that drew 69,983 to the North Shore. The Panthers came out on top, 42-39, in the matchup.
On the musical front, Taylor Swift packed the house last summer with 56,445. That sets her as the second-biggest concert in the venue.
