Looking for a diversion while waiting on election results?

Turn on the radio in Pittsburgh and tune the dial to 94.5 FM and you’ll — or should we say “yule”? — be transported to the holidays.

3WS is giving listeners an advance taste of the Christmas season with some merry tunes.

“We wanted to bring some holiday cheer to Pittsburgh a little early this year with a Christmas Preview Weekend,” the station posted on its Facebook page.

The preview launched at 5 p.m. Friday with Andy Williams’ “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Other tracks included The Ronettes’ “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and Mariah Carey’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).”

No, you’re not going crazy, the classic rock station usually waits until just around Thanksgiving to switch over to its 24/7 holiday tune format. Maybe this year they figured we all could use some jolly in our lives.

For those who think it’s a bit too soon for such things, don’t worry — rock will return for a bit before the 24/7 Christmas music starts officially on Nov. 20.

Update: As of Monday morning, 3wS had switched back to classic rock, but couldn’t help themselves with a sprinkle or two of holiday tunes.
