The Westmoreland plans tour of 3 noted Southern art museums

A September tour of three noted Southern art museums is being planned by The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg.
Featured museums include the Philbrook Museum of Art and the Gilcrease Museum, both in Tulsa, Okla.; and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark.
Anne Kraybill, the Richard M. Scaife Director/CEO of The Westmoreland, will lead the tour, planned for Sept. 6-9.
Trip highlights include:
• Sept. 6: First Friday Art Crawl and dinner in Tulsa’s Brady Art District
• Sept. 7: Tours of Philbrook and Gilcrease museums; cocktails and dinner with representative of Crystal Bridges; cocktails and tour of “The Future is Female,” an exhibition in Bentonville’s 21c Hotel.
• Sept. 8: At Crystal Bridges, permanent collection tour with curator Mindy Besaw, private curatorial tour of “Nature’s Nation: American Art and Environment” and tour of a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian home
• Sept. 9: Breakfast and return flights.
Fee is $1,200 for double hotel occupancy, $1,400 for single. Participants will need to arrange their own transportation to Tulsa and to the hotel there, and their return trip from Bentonville.
Package includes travel to the Philbrook, The Gilcrease and 21c Hotel Museum via motor coach; admission to the Philbrook, the Gilcrease and Crystal Bridges; dinner Friday night in Tulsa, brunch at the Philbrook, cocktail reception and dinner at 21c; and brunch at Crystal Bridges.
The Philbrook’s collection includes modern and contemporary art, as well as a Native American collection. The Gilcrease houses the world’s largest collection of art of the American West, and a collection of art and artifacts from Central and South America. Crystal Bridges’ permanent collection features works of American artists, from Colonial to contemporary.
