WWE returns to Pittsburgh this summer

After a last-minute cancellation in 2020, the WWE is coming back to Pittsburgh.

The sports entertainment company on Friday announced new live event dates for this summer.

Pittsburgh is slated for a Supershow at 7:30 p.m. July 24 at PPG Paints Arena. The arena has the event listed on their website, but no ticket information or sale date is currently listed.

July 25: Supershow, @kfc_yumcenter in Louisville, KY

July 31: Supershow, @FiservForum in Milwaukee

August 1: Supershow, Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit

August 2: #WWERaw, @AllstateArena in Chicago

The last WWE event held in Pittsburgh was an Aug. 5, 2019, episode of “Monday Night Raw.”

WWE was slated to come to town March 16, 2020, for “Monday Night Raw,” but the event was canceled days before the show because of covid mitigation orders. Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto restricted gatherings of more than 250 people in the city, with the order going into effect the day of the scheduled show.

The 2020 show was set to feature appearances from WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, as well as Edge and The Undertaker. Austin’s scheduled appearance was most likely because of the show falling on 3/16, as his popular catchphrase was “Austin 3:16” and the famed pro wrestler is celebrated on that day each year.
