TV Talk: Amazon announces ‘Pradeeps of Pittsburgh’ premiere date
Originally ordered as an Amazon Freevee series, when Pittsburgh-set “The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” debuts all eight episodes Oct. 17 the show will stream on both Freevee and Amazon’s Prime Video.
Filmed last summer in Toronto, the half-hour comedy series was created by Vijal Patel (“Schooled,” “Black-ish”) and inspired by his experience growing up in Pittsburgh.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the series mixes comedy and mystery as Pradeep family members retell the often conflicting stories of their first few months in Pittsburgh during an interrogation. Those tales include clashes with their Penguins-jersey-wearing (Ethan Suplee, “My Name is Earl”) and Christian-proselytizing (Carnegie Mellon University grad Megan Hilty, “Smash”) Pittsburgh neighbors.
The Pradeep family is made up of realist matriarch Sudha (Sindhu Vee), patriarch dreamer Mahesh (Naveen Andrews, “Lost”), romantic daughter Bhanu (Sahana Srinivasan), favorite son Kamal (Arjun Sriram) and optimistic son Vinod (Ashwin Sakthivel).
Pete Holmes (“Crashing”) and Romy Rosemont (“Big Sky”) appear as special guest stars.
