It’s May the 4th, and you know what that means.

It’s Star Wars Day, the unofficial holiday celebrating the storied movie franchise and a play on what is arguably its best-known line: “May the Force be with you.”

The Force gives certain people in the Star Wars universe extraordinary abilities that can be used for good or evil. The famous phrase is used as an encouragement as the good guys of the Rebel Alliance go up against the bad guys of the Galactic Empire.

Every year the Force/Fourth is celebrated with a galaxy of Star Wars puns, releases, shopping deals and statistics.

Today, the animated series, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” premieres on Disney+. It’s both a sequel to and spin-off of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” following a renegade band of clone soldiers trying to find a place in the new empire in the aftermath of the aforementioned wars.

Star Wars is big business, even 44 years after the release of the first movie. Data analysis from the global ecommerce company, Pattern, showed that in 2020:

• Star Wars Day drove a 93% increase in demand for Star Wars products on Amazon over the average the rest of the year.

• Products relating to Yoda and Baby Yoda topped the list, accounting for 49% of all consumer demand for products related to Star Wars characters in 2020.

• Products related to “The Mandalorian,” specifically, accounted for 19%.
