In this episode of the “Pittsburgh Pop” podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss Pittsburgh pop culture news of the moment, including the Steelers’ 2022 NFL prime-time TV schedule and WTAE-TV fill-in sports reporter Ashley Liotus.

Owen reviews HBO Max’s “Hacks” and talks about Jon Shanahan, a 2009 Baldwin High School grad, who when went on ABC’s “Shark Tank” last week and shark Robert Herjavec agreed to a $600,000 investment in exchange for 10% equity in Stryx, Shanahan’s makeup-for-men company.

The pair also discuss this week’s upfront presentations in New York where network executives try to convince advertisers to commit to buying ads “up front” in advance of the 2022-23 TV season. (This is also where a ton of shows get renewed and canceled.)
