Pittsburghers, get your pipes pitch perfect.

“American Idol” is coming to town.

Would-be superstars can register at the show’s network website.

On-site registration begins at 9 a.m. on Sept. 7 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd., according to publicist Samantha Belluccia.

“Registration will be open all day. Auditonees are encouraged to stop by at any time throughout the day,” she says.

Auditions are set to conclude at 5 p.m.

Along with other reality shows, “American Idol” auditions tend to attract long lines of people looking for their lucky break.

It’s also spawned similar competitions at local fairs and festivals across the country, as singers compete to be crowned their region’s best.

Some contestants — including Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood — have ridden their performances on the popular show right into successful musical careers.

The show has been traveling across the country this summer auditioning singers for the upcoming season.
