Here’s the story … of one of the most famous TV homes of all time. And it’s now for sale.
The iconic Brady Bunch house in Studio City, Calif., is on the market via Redfin for $5.5 million.
The house has quite a storied history. It began as just the location for exterior shots on the ABC sitcom from the early 1970s. Meanwhile, the actors filmed all of the interiors on a Paramount Studios set.
The inside of the house at 11222 Dilling St. didn’t look anything like the show that millions grew up watching. However, in 2018, HGTV bought the house (for $3.5 million) and gathered the original six Brady kids together for 2019’s “A Very Brady Renovation,” in which they gutted and renovated the entire home to look exactly as it did for viewers.
HGTV put about $1.9 million into renovations, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That includes adding 2,000 square feet to the original structure along with adding the floating staircase and the orange-and-avocado kitchen.
Built in 1959, the listing claims the house is the second most photographed home in the U.S. after the White House.
“From the infamous staircase that anchors the home,” the Redfin listing reads, “to the bright orange Formica kitchen counters, to the blue bunk beds and pink twin beds, and let’s not forget about the groovy attic.”
The 5,000-plus square foot home on a 12,000 square foot lot has citrus trees lining the yard.
And bonus: The replica furnishings and accessories are included. (No word on whether Kitty Carryall is among them.)
According to The Hollywood Reporter, HGTV will contribute part of the sale to Turn Up: Fight Hunger, a partnership with No Kid Hungry.
