Texas rapper Slim Thug announced this week on social media that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

The rapper, whose real name is Stayve Jerome Thomas, can be seen in an Instagram post sitting in his home detailing his experience with finding out his diagnosis.

Just found out I got Corona virus

Slim said he had experienced a “slight fever and a cough” several days ago, but wasn’t experiencing any symptoms since then.

“I didn’t feel bedridden or anything. I could have walked around and infected all kind of people, not knowing…” the Houston native said.

He added he had been taking precautions to try to avoid contracting the virus including wearing gloves and a mask.

He then reflected on activities he participated in that he “probably shouldn’t have,” including: getting a haircut at the barbershop and ordering takeout. Earlier in the month, he posted ophotos from his trip to Cancun.

Slim also noted the irony of contracting the illness after he’d repeatedly posted on social media the importance of taking the virus seriously.

“It (doesn’t) stop me from making music. It just stops me from going out and doing shows,” he assured his fans.

The rapper’s album, “Thug Life,” was slated to be released on Friday.

“A lot of people are going to think that this is a publicity stunt for me, because … a lot of people don’t know me and see me from afar.”

“The toughest part is that it’s just boring,” he said of self-quarantining.

Slim Thug has experienced some mainstream success with features on songs such as Beyonce’s No. 1 single “Check On It” (2005) and Gwen Stefani’s “Luxurious” (2004).

He started gaining notoriety back in 2004 when he was featured on fellow Houston rapper Mike Jones’ “Still Trippin,’ ” which also featured another Houston native, Paul Wall.
