Dolly Parton’s sister is clarifying recent comments she made about the country star’s health.

Freida Parton made headlines early Tuesday, Oct. 7, when she asked for prayers for the country singer amid “health challenges” that caused her to postpone several Las Vegas concert dates by nine months. But now, she’s clearing things up.

“I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly,” she wrote on Facebook late Tuesday. “She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.”

She continued: “Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”

Freida Parton’s post earlier in the day asked for prayers to “lift” her Grammy-winning sister up.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida Parton, 68, previously wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been (led) to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

Dolly Parton postpones concerts due to ‘health challenges’

On Sept. 28, Dolly Parton, 79, revealed in a post that doctors had told her she “must have a few procedures,” which would make rehearsing for her Caesars Palace Las Vegas residency difficult. She joked that “it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up” and didn’t explain what specific procedures she would be undergoing, just that “it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”

“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” she wrote. “While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say.”

She continued with a reassurance, saying this may be a sign to “slow down,” but “don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.”
