Stan Lee is getting a tribute in Stormwind.
As reported by the fan site “WoWHead,” games company Blizzard is adding a tribute to the late comics legend in its massively multiplayer online role-playing game, “World of Warcraft.”
Lee died in November. He was 95.
According to WoWHead, Bas Schouten found the non-player character, named “Stanley,” in Stormwind Keep in an upcoming, as-yet unreleased patch for the game. The patch is currently available to players for public testing on what is known as the public test realm, or “PTR.”
“I am SO happy to see this on PTR!” Schouten said in a tweet. “@TheRealStanLee lives on,” followed by a heart.
The character reflects Lee’s slim build, along with his gray hair and mustache. In Stormwind, capital city of the humans who are members of the game’s Alliance faction, he is wearing plate warrior armor, also worn by the city’s guards, and a blue-and-gold Stormwind tabard.
The character exclaims Lee’s trademark, “Excelsior!”
In-game memorials are not new in World of Warcraft. Tributes to other people, including players of the game, can be found scattered around the massive game world.
Celebrities already remembered in Warcraft include Farrah Fawcett, Chris Farley, and Robin Williams.
