It’s the final weekend of March and it’s also Easter weekend. Here are some ways to spend it.

Lunar Gala

Carnegie Mellon University’s Lunar Gala is Saturday. The student-run organization founded in 1996 consists of more than 150 students of differing majors and backgrounds who create a fashion show.

Organizers expect 1,500 guests to attend the 7 p.m. show at Wiegand Gym on the Oakland campus.

Lunar Gala is partnering with Style412, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization committed to the fashion industry. The original event began with the Taiwanese Student Association’s Lunar New Year tradition of wearing new clothes. It continues to include the Chinese zodiac animal of the year; 2024 is the dragon. The theme of this year’s gala is “Liminal,” a Latin term meaning “a threshold.”

“Mamma Mia”

The 25th anniversary tour of the Tony Award-winning “Mamma Mia” is happening Friday through Sunday at the Benedum Center, Downtown, as part of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series.

Leading the tour as Donna Sheridan is Christine Sherrill. Alisa Melendez plays Sophie Sheridan in the musical that premiered in London in 1999 and on Broadway in New York in 2001.

It is the tale of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads on a Greek island paradise, with music from ABBA.

Limited tickets are available at $125.

Kane Brown

Country music singer-songwriter Kane Brown will perform at PPG Paints Arena, Uptown, at 7 p.m. on Friday to a nearly sold-out crowd. Guests for his “In The Air” tour include Tyler Hubbard from the band Florida Georgia Line and country band Parmalee, known for the song “Take My Name.”

Brown and his wife, Katelyn Brown, collaborated on the song “Thank God.” His other tunes include “Lose It” and “Like I Love Country Music.”

Egg-stravagana!

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Oakland is hosting Super Science Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The event, called Egg-stravaganza!, features activities such as a scavenger hunt, where guests follow egg-themed clues to search for specimens throughout the museum, earn stamps and collect a goodie bag (while supplies last).

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $15 for students and children ages 3-18. Children under 2 are free.

Speakeasy

The Kelly Strayhorn Theater in East Liberty is hosting an Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday; noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday; and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday.

The speakeasy will transport guests into a bygone era. Crafted cocktails inspired by four of Poe’s stories will be served.

Must be 21 years old to attend. (Note: This production incorporates haze.)
