Young chess enthusiasts will get a chance to match their cunning and strategy at a Feb. 2 tournament at the Northland Public Library in McCandless.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Players in kindergarten through 8th grade will compete for 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place awards in two age division, with the 1st-place winners in each age category moving on to compete in the county-wide finals in March.

Parents can register their child for the tournament online, in person at the library’s children and teen service desk, or by calling 412-366-8100 Ext.123.

The library is located at 300 Cumberland Road.
