PHILADELPHIA — Police say a man suffering from multiple stab wounds was driving in Philadelphia when he struck a car, killing two members of a Mummer’s string band and a third person.

Police said the 29-year-old man drove his car into an SUV with four people inside about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday near Citizens Bank Park.

Officers say the man had a dozen stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. They later found a knife inside his car.

The man had not been named or charged early Wednesday.

A 36-year-old man, a 31-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. A 30-year-old woman was listed in critical condition.

Police say two of the victims were members of the South Philly String-Band, which won second place in Tuesday’s Mummer’s Parade.
