What’s cuter than a dog? A dog in a Halloween costume, of course!

Dog owners jumped at the chance to show off their costumed canines during the annual Bark or Treat event Oct. 18 at Hartwood Acres Dog Park.

The pups participated in a “trick-or-treat” experience, searching the park for hidden tennis balls to exchange for prizes.

The event was held as part of the ninth annual Punkin Chunkin festival, which featured staff from the Allegheny County Parks Department and SHARP Robotics from the Sarah Heinz House slinging pumpkins with a full-size trebuchet on the grounds of the amphitheater.

The fall celebration included something for all ages: crafts, games, face painting, storytelling, cookie decorating, a farmers market and a variety of food and beer vendors.
