A girl was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital after falling off the Leechburg Bridge and onto the shoreline along the Kiskiminetas River Monday evening.

Lower Kiski Ambulance Service confirmed the incident via its Facebook page.

The post said crews responded to the scene at the bridge, along with Gilpin and Leechburg fire departments.

The patient was flown from the Leechburg football field.

“A big thank you to everyone involved in this incident,” the post read. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young lady and her family.”

Armstrong County dispatch would only confirm an incident took place in Leechburg shortly before 7:30 p.m.

The call center referred further questions to Leechburg police, who were not available for comment Monday night.

Leechburg firefighters declined to comment and a message left with the ambulance company was not immediately returned.
