Regarding Patrick Vereb (“Hazelwood, Harrison funeral director accused of pocketing $650K for pet cremations, burials that didn’t happen,” April 28, TribLive): What an inhuman act by this bloodless, unfeeling bestial.

Our hearts were so broken by the passing of our Ruby, who was with us for 15 years, and now we are going through it again. What do we do with the shadowbox that brought us some comfort that she was still here with us? Are those tufts of fur really hers, and the paw print? Also, who is Kelsey Baxter, who signed her cremation certificate? Should he or she be held accountable also?

What about K-Vet, which we doubt did a background check on Vereb? Should they be held accountable? Oh, and also the landfill company. You mean to tell us that they didn’t notice anything shady about this for three years?

Yes, we have a lot of questions. Unfortunately, we will never get answers. But the one thing that can’t be taken away from us are the wonderful memories of Ruby. She brought us so much love and comfort.

We just hope Vereb never gets to feel that, because he does not deserve it. A bloodless, unfeeling bestial. May he be thrown in a landfill when he passes.
