Greensburg council will vote Monday on a project to update some of the oldest traffic signals in the city.
Mayor Robb Bell said a recommendation from city officials called for council to approve a contract with Bronder Technical Services, which had the lowest bid at $384,764.31.
The project will address signals at Main and Clopper streets and at Fourth Street and Westminster Avenue. The city received a $496,563 grant from the Commonwealth Financing Agency to pay for the project.
The upgrades at Main and Clopper will include replacement of the signals and one new mast arm, as well as installation of pedestrian crossing devices and sidewalk improvements. Residential properties are very close to the intersection, so only one mast arm is planned to reduce the impact on the neighborhood, officials said.
The Main and Clopper signals currently are grouped on one arm suspended above the intersection, with additional lights affixed to poles along the street. The lights at Westminster and Fourth are on several poles along the street.
City administrator Kelsye Milliron said the signal poles and traffic lights there will be replaced.
