A reported suspicious package found outside a Southwest Greensburg church on Saturday is under investigation.

Firefighters on Saturday afternoon closed several blocks of Stanton Street, which is on the border of Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg, and other adjacent roads. The package was reportedly found in a food pantry box outside the church, according to Greensburg police Chief Charles Irvin.

“We evacuated some people on our side (of the street),” he said.

Investigators were waiting for a bomb squad to arrive. Southwest Greensburg police and fire could not be reached.

Stanton Street is in a residential area between routes 30 and 119.
