Fundraisers
• An Election Day spaghetti dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. or until sold out Nov. 5 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 Dunbar St., Uniontown. Menu: spaghetti, homemade meatballs. salad, bread and dessert. Cost: $12; children’s portion, $7. Dine in or takeout. Proceeds will benefit church mission trips. • Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Hempfield. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies.
• St. Stephen Orthodox Church, Unity, is accepting orders for its Thanksgiving kolaci roll sale. Varieties: nut, apricot and poppyseed. Cost: $15. Order deadline: Nov. 14. Pickup: 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 23 at the church, 1520 Susan Drive. Orders: Cathy, 724-537-7238, or Brigette, 724-836-0930.
• Ligonier Heritage Methodist Church will sponsor a benefit auction of furniture, antiques, collectibles and kitchen appliances at 9 a.m. Nov. 9 at the Barn at Ligonier Valley, 1 Springer Road, Ligonier Township. Doors open at 8 a.m. Lunch will be available. Proceeds will support local and foreign missions.
• A spaghetti dinner will be served from 3 to 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at Bullskin Township Senior Center, 52 Medsger Road. Menu: spaghetti, one meatball, salad, bread and dessert. Cost: $12; 5 to 11, $6; younger than 5, free; extra meatballs, $1.50. Dine in or takeout.
• West Newton First Church of God, 157 N. Second St., will host an Election Day luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Menu: homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, chili, desserts and drinks.
• Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church will have a takeout Election Day spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Cook Township Community Center, 1714 Route 711. Menu: spaghetti with meat sauce, bread, salad, choice of white or chocolate cake. Orders can be placed and picked up at the tent outside the kitchen entrance. No phone orders will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Cost: $8; 4 to 11, $5; 3 and younger, free.
Health
• In honor of Children’s Grief Awareness Day, a free creative event for children who have lost a loved one will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at Latrobe Art Center, 819 Ligonier St. Sponsored by Excela Health Home Care and Hospice, Innersight LLC and Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home Inc. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations required by Nov. 12. Reservations: 724-537-5575.
Meeting
• The Botanical Society of Westmoreland County will have a business meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Westmoreland Conservation District Barn, 218 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Guest speakers Master Gardener Karen Banks and Joanna Moyar from the Westmoreland County Historical Society will give a talk about Dyer’s Garden at Hanna’s Township. Light refreshments will be served afterward. Annual dues of $15 per household or $10 per person will be collected. Student dues are waived with proof of enrollment in a high school or university.
Senior Citizen News
• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will be closed Nov. 5 for Election Day. Top Dog Therapy will visit at 1 p.m. Nov. 6. A Veterans Day lunch and ceremony will be Nov. 7. Reservations required for lunch. Donations are accepted for all activities. Details: 724-787-1760.
Veterans News
• Norwin Elks will host a free spaghetti dinner for veterans and active-duty personnel, including National Guard and Reserves, from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Elks Lodge, 135 Elks Lane, Manor. Family members and guests will pay for their meals. Menu: spaghetti, salad and soft drink. The full menu will not be available. Reservations required for parties of five or more.
