A toddler was sent to the hospital after falling to the ground from a second-floor window in Pittsburgh’s Hill District on Saturday morning.

Pittsburgh Police were called to a home in the 2400 block of Bedford Avenue just after 8 a.m., responding to reports that a child had fallen out of a window.

Neighbors found a 2-year-old boy in his blanket on the ground outside and brought him inside to his parents who had not realized he had fallen out of his bed, police said.

Police said the toddler’s bed was placed flush against the second-floor window.

The toddler was conscious and crying when found, and medics transported him to the hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

Detectives responded to the scene, but the incident is being considered an accident.
