A public meeting regarding the demolition of the former Fort Pitt Brewery is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday at Jeannette City Hall.

County officials will review what residents can expect during the demolition, which could start this summer, and answer their questions, as well as hear ideas about the potential for use of the property.

A few hundred mailers were sent out last week to addresses within 500 feet of the crumbling site in West Jeannette. Anyone can attend the meeting at city hall, 110 S. Second St.

The Westmoreland County Land Bank acquired the complex at a judicial sale in August 2022. The demolition project is being funded by a $10.4 million pot of American Rescue Plan funding set aside by Westmoreland County for blight remediation in seven communities, including Jeannette.
