A two-time Grammy winner, the last surviving member of The Monkees and a singer whose song became ubiquitous with a 1990s TV show are some of the biggest names in this year’s Allegheny County Summer Concert Series, announced Wednesday.

The concert series, with shows at South Park Amphitheater and Hartwood Acres Amphiteater, are free and take place rain or shine.

Americana/folk singer Patty Griffin, who won Grammys for Best Traditional Gospel Album in 2011 and Best Folk Album in 2020, is set for July 14 at Hartwood Acres, followed the next week by Paula Cole, whose “I Don’t Want to Wait” served as the theme song for teen drama “Dawson’s Creek.” Other highlights at Hartwood Acres include The Bar-Kays, Anees, Matthew Whitaker and MAGIC!

At South Park, Micky Dolenz will celebrate the music of his group, The Monkees, on Aug. 2. National acts on the schedule include Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials, Brittney Spencer, Vertical Horizon, The Dip and James McMurtry.
