Featured programs

• “Cycle of Memory” screening, 6 p.m. May 9. In the film “Cycle of Memory,” Alex Leff and his younger sibling Koby try to follow their Grandpa Mel’s 1945 bike trip.

With the help of a grandmother learning to live alone for the first time, Mel’s lifelong friend and co-adventurer on the bike trip, and a family collection spanning 1950s film reels to 1990s videotapes, “Cycle of Memory” explores the importance of intergenerational connection, healing painful pasts and leaving a meaningful time capsule for the future. Learn more about the film at cycleofmemory.com/about.

Registration is required. Snacks will be provided.

• Documentary viewing: “The Armstrong Lie,” 6 p.m. May 20. In 2009, director Alex Gibney set out to film “The Road Back,” a documentary on cyclist Lance Armstrong’s comeback year. Three years later, a doping investigation led to his lifetime ban from competition and the stripping of his seven Tour de France titles, and the documentary was shelved.

On Jan. 14, 2013, Armstrong went back to Gibney to set the record straight.

Registration is required. Snacks will be provided.

• Northland NerdCon, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 15. The third annual event will take place throughout the library, celebrating comics, anime, board games, role playing and all things nerdy. Featured are a cosplay contest and Mario Kart tournament.

Visit www.northlandlibrary.org/northland-nerdcon for registration and to check out the full schedule. The event is for ages 13 through adult.
