Letter to the editor: Trump bringing down GOP

I am constantly amazed at Republicans’ total disregard for truth. They say they want immigration reform, and come up with a bipartisan agreement then refuse to support it because Donald Trump, who probably never saw it, said it was no good. This is the typical hypocritical response to anything that would benefit the country if it would make President Biden, or any Democrat, look good. The citizens be damned.

When Trump first announced his run for president, many Republicans said he was unfit. But, as soon as he won the nomination, they changed their tune. They claimed he was going to make America great. I always thought America was the greatest country in the world, and still do. Sure, we have problems, but we can overcome them by working together. Not by name-calling and insults.

No matter what Trump does, his supporters follow him. No matter how many times he is indicted for crimes and says it’s a witch hunt, his minions believe him. Just because someone keeps repeating a lie at the top of his voice doesn’t make it true. The commander in chief is not exempt from the law, no matter what he says.

I can vote for anyone but Trump. I must admit I am not crazy about anyone presently running for president, but I refuse to vote for a man who is incapable of realizing what is true and what is a lie. And I also refuse to vote for anyone who would justify Trump’s actions just to get elected.
