“Chicago” has been a timeless Broadway musical since its debut in 1979. Now revised for high school performances, “Chicago: Teen Edition” features the same vaudeville-inspired song and dance for a PG-13 audience.

The show satirizes Chicago in the Roaring Twenties, exploring themes as relevant in 2024 as they were in 1924. The media’s creation of “celebrity criminals” and the corruption of the justice system unfold in the stories of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, each arrested for murder.

As Roxie and Velma one-up each other in desperate pursuit of headlines and acquittal, the show explores injustice, including innocent Hungarian immigrant Hunyak, corrupt prison matron Mama Morton and slippery lawyer Billy Flynn.

Will they “see the truth above the roar” and realize that there is much more to life than fame and celebrity? Come see for yourself on March 1-3 at North Catholic High School’s production of “Chicago: Teen Edition.”

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at 1617 Route 228 in Cranberry.
