On Dec. 21 our family was at Burrell High School for a preschool program when the call for a lockdown came over the PA system. This was a new experience for us, as, during our school years, we only experienced the occasional fire drill. I can attest that the situation was handled quickly, calmly and professionally by the attending teacher. Students were also calm and well behaved.

After the situation was resolved and we knew what caused the lockdown, I thought about how quickly the police department and school district acted to protect our children. Many thanks to those who put the processes and training in place to safeguard our community, and especially our children, during times of potential danger.

Once again, our family extends its sincere gratitude to all law enforcement officers and school administrators and teachers for making the safety of our children their number one priority. God bless you.
