A person appears to have drowned in the Youghiogheny River early Saturday afternoon, Fayette County 911 officials said.

Emergency responders were called to Yough River Park, just off North Sixth Street along the banks of the Yough, around noon.

One person was recovered from the water, and the county coroner was called to the scene, according to a 911 supervisor.

Coroner Phillip Reilly on Sunday identified the victim as Jason Staley, 45, according to Tribune-Review news partner WTAE. Staley was found midway across the river in the water.

Reilly said he did not suspect foul play.

A cause or manner of death has not yet been determined.
