Farmers market

Food trucks and farm vendors will be in Pine Community Park on the Pearce Mill Road entrance side from 5:30-8 p.m. Aug. 31. For more information, visit twp.pine.pa.us.

Richland Active Transportation Plan

Richland Township officials are seeking input for the township’s Active Transportation Plan. Surveys can be found online at richland.pa.us and must be filled out by Aug. 31. The goal of the project is to develop community plans and design transportation projects to provide bicycle and pedestrian connections to important local destinations with the township and increase residents” opportunities for physical activity.

Math for girls

In order to promote STEM education and activities for girls in the area, a Pine-Richland High School senior is holding a free all-girls math competition for elementary and middle school-aged girls to help more girls become engaged in mathematics and STEM. The competition will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 19 at the Northern Tier Library. Competitors will be divided into two divisions based on their grade level. Students from grades five and six will solve challenging problems based on algebra and geometry while students from grades seven and eight will solve problems on more complicated topics. All students will be able to compete in individual and team rounds. The competition will be completely free of cost for any participants. Register online at northerntierlibrary.org.

Golf outing

The Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western PA will host the Third Annual MGA Golf Outing to benefit the organization’s free patient support services on Sept. 24 at Pheasant Ridge Golf Club in Gibsonia. Registration/check-in starts at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. In addition to 18 holes of golf, attendees will also be treated to a grilled lunch during registration and a buffet dinner.

Individual registration is $125 per golfer and registration for a foursome is $500. Tickets are also available for a dinner-only option at $30 per person. The outing will feature a number of different activities including a hole-in-one contest, a putting contest, as well as several other on-course events.

Kennywood tickets

Pine-Richland Band Boosters organization is selling Kennywood tickets as a fundraiser to support the Pine-Richland Marching Band. Is one of the largest fundraisers annually. The cost for a ticket to the P-R Kennywood day on Aug. 18 is $39. Tickets for any other date are $44. Tickets purchased through the band are less expensive than tickets online or at the gate, which can be as much as $65. Tickets may be purchased throughout the Kennywood season at NexTier Bank in Wexford, NexTier Bank in Gibsonia, and the Pine Township Community Center.
