A 30-year-old man from Export was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in June in Plum, Allegheny County police announced Thursday.

County police charged Towner William Henretty II with a felony count of accidents involving death or personal injury and summary traffic offenses, including failing to stop and give information or render aid.

James W. Baker, 66, of Penn Hills died at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville about five hours after the Sunday afternoon collision June 11 on Unity Trestle Road near Universal Road.

An autopsy found Baker died from blunt force trauma of the neck and torso.

In a criminal complaint, police said Henretty was driving a Lincoln MKS sedan alone west on Unity Trestle Road when he turned left while trying to park in front of a residence in the 100 block of Unity Trestle. Police say Henretty did not yield to oncoming traffic and collided head-on with Baker, who was driving a Harley Davidson east on Unity Trestle.

Using witness statements, surveillance footage and information from Henretty’s cellphone, police said he fled the scene toward Leechburg Road and drove back to his home in Export. The front bumper cover, grill and a Lincoln emblem from his car were left behind.

Pennsylvania State Police found the car in a parking lot on Washington Avenue about 585 feet from Henretty’s apartment, the complaint states.

Henretty’s attorney, James Anderson Crosby, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Henretty was arraigned Thursday morning and released on a nonmonetary bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 23.
