Seven people — including five incumbents — sought ballot spots for five seats on the Allegheny Valley School Board. One incumbent, Colleen Crumb, lost.

With 100% of the Democratic vote in, Amy Sarno led with 18.10% of the vote, Paula Jean Moretti had 17.47%, Nicole Paulovich had 15.84%, Glenna Renaldi had 15.13% and Kathleen “Jeanne” Haas had 13.35%, earning the Democratic nominations for the November election. Colleen Crumb had 11.19% and James Schiemer had 8.17%. Paulovich was the only newcomer to win a Democratic nomination.

On the Republican ballot, with 100% of the vote in, Moretti led with 15.72%, Paulovich had 15.29%, Haas had 15.18%, Sarno had 14.33%, and Schiemer had 13.06%, rounding out the top five for the Republican nominations come November. Renaldi had 12.17% and Crumb had 11.75%, appearing that Crumb would miss the ballot for the four-year term this fall.

Those seats are for four-year terms. No candidates were on the ballot for the sixth seat, which carries a two-year term, leaving it open for write-ins.

Haas, 78, of Springdale Township has served on the board for 12 years. Haas is a registered Republican and is a school bus driver for W.L. Roenigk.
