Severe showers, thunderstorms forecast for Wednesday

The National Weather Service said severe showers and thunderstorms are possible late Wednesday and into early Thursday in the Western Pennsylvania region, especially before midnight.

The NWS said the primary threats are damaging winds, along with the chance for an isolated tornado.

The service’s official forecast said the chances for precipitation will be around 50% Wednesday evening, but increase to between 70% to 90% overnight.

Meanwhile, temperatures are forecast to be around 60 degrees at 6 a.m. Wednesday, increasing to upper 70s by noon, with a high around 81 for the day. Wednesday evening, temps will remain warm, in the 70s, and drop to 60 again by 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

Despite the warnings, the weather service said confidence is low on whether the severe threat environment will materialize.
