Employees at FPI Industries in Arnold spent their Friday night cleaning up debris after a man jumped an embankment in his car and drove into the front of the building, according to police.

Arnold Police took one man into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, after responding to a call just before 6 p.m. for report that a car had driven into the building, a machine shop that is off the corner of Drey Street and Third Avenue.

“The driver came north on Third Avenue and jumped the embankment,” said Arnold Patrolman Tim Christian, pointing to two tire divots in the grass more than 100 feet away from the front of the FPI building. “There were two people in the car — the male driver, who we took into custody, and a female passenger who fled the scene.”

No one appeared to be injured in the crash, Christian said.

Police are investigating.
