If you need to have a little dental work done, and want to take a job to help save some cash for that, Sheetz would not be the place to apply.

At least not right now.

According to a recent report, the popular convenience store and gas station has a policy that says people with visible teeth problems should not be hired.

According to Business Insider, the employee handbook says “applicants with obvious missing, broken, or badly discolored teeth (unrelated to a disability) are not qualified for employment with Sheetz.”

There are a lot of reasons a person could have a dental issue, but at the end of the day, it’s hard to understand why a dental issue could prevent someone from doing a fine job at Sheetz.

The good news here is that, maybe, Sheetz has realized that, too.

“Your inquiry has prompted a more specific review to ensure our policies are aligned with Sheetz’s commitment to foster a culture of respect,” Nick Ruffner, a public relations manager for the company told Business Insider. “While we have a personal appearance policy that includes dental health, we provide accommodations to the policy that are granted for medical, cultural and religious reasons. At Sheetz, it is important that we honor and recognize our employees’ diverse experiences, individual identities and unique perspectives.”

Business Insider said the rules are known as the “smile policy.”

The report said that Sheetz’s rule allows a timeframe for employees, which “should not typically exceed 90 days,” to resolve their dental issues.

“In the event a current employee develops a dental problem that would limit their ability to display a pleasant, full, and complete smile, we cannot permit this situation to go on indefinitely,” the handbook says according to the report.

“Sheetz believes that an employee’s smile during interactions with customers and coworkers is critical to creating the sense of hospitality in our stores that we strive for.”
