Mother Nature is doing a number on Tarentum’s Night Market finale.

Organizers canceled Friday’s outdoor event because of the wintry weather expected.

The National Weather Service issued an ice storm warning and a winter weather advisory for parts of Western Pennsylvania for Wednesday night and Thursday.

Frigid temperatures are expected to linger into Friday.

Lower elevations north of Pittsburgh in the advisory area could get freezing rain resulting in a glaze on surfaces, the weather service said.

Many businesses along Corbet Street and Sixth Avenue will remain open late for shoppers, but “unfortunately we do not have indoor space for vendors,” according to a Facebook post by market organizers.

Friday’s event was the last one scheduled this season and was expected to feature all of the outdoor vendors concentrated along Sixth Avenue.

Tarentum Night Market is typically the third Thursday of the month, beginning each spring. Hundreds of people browse tables filled with homemade crafts, candles, jewelry and food.

This year, additional events were scheduled in November and December because of the popularity.

Organizers are encouraging shoppers to come out and support small indoor businesses by getting a bite to eat or looking for the perfect holiday gift.
