Pittsburgh police are searching for a man accused of shooting his wife during an argument while they were driving and then leaving her along the road suffering from a gunshot wound.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Kevin Crews, 37, of Pittsburgh, who faces two counts of aggravated assault and a count of carrying a firearm without a license, which are felonies. He also was charged with possession of an instrument of crime, illegal possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.

Crews is not allowed to possess a firearm because he pleaded guilty in 2018 to a count of escape, police said.

Police responded to the intersection of I-579 and Boulevard of the Allies at about 1:30 p.m. and found the woman in critical condition, according to investigators. She was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Uptown for treatment, where her condition was upgraded to serious, but stable.

When detectives questioned the woman at the hospital she told them that she was driving from their home in Northview Heights when she and Crews began arguing, according to a criminal complaint.

She said Crews accused her of not being truthful with him and then pulled out a gun and shot her in the leg, according to the complaint.

Crews ordered her to keep driving, but she refused and pulled the vehicle over and got out, the complaint said.

Crews then got behind the wheel and drove off, leaving her along the ramp to I-579, which is near the Duquesne University campus, investigators said.
