Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the Speers exit in Washington County will be closed overnight Monday and Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday, PennDOT said.

The road will be closed each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

It’s part of the project to replace a bridge that carries Maple Drive over the busy interstate.

The detours for eastbound traffic traveling overnight in that section of I-70 is as follows:

• Take exit for Speers (Exit 39);

• Cross Maple Drive onto ramp for eastbound I-70.

For westbound traffic:

• Take the exit for Charleroi/Allenport (Exit 40);

• Turn left onto northbound Route 88;

• Turn left onto First Street, then left onto Twilight Hollow Road;

• Turn right onto the ramp for westbound I-70.

The closures are required to allow the contractor to demolish the second section of the bridge that carries Maple Drive over the highway.
