As Pittsburghers come to terms with the renaming of their football stadium, there’s at least one Steelers player who is accepting the new branding of his workplace.

Black and Gold fans appear to have nearly universal disdain for a Michigan-based insurance company’s purchase of the naming rights to what has been Heinz Field since it opened in 2001.

Acrisure Stadium on Monday evening after the first of two iconic fiberglass ketchup bottles signs was removed as part of a rebranding.

But Steelers defensive captain Cameron Heyward took to Twitter on Monday to assure Steeler Nation that Acrisure Stadium is a name they can live with. He used a clip from a Batman movie to make his point that worse things could have happened to the field he has called home for 11 years.

The defensive end went on to defend the rebranding by recalling his lifelong passion for the Steelers and assert that the team, field, seats and Terrible Towels will not be changing.

“Don’t let the change of a name and two big bottles make you sad,” Heyward wrote in a reply to someone who challenged his loyalty to the franchise.

For anyone who wants to continue the discussion with Heyward, he offered to field complaints at his @NotJustFootball Twitter account.
