A 26-year-old man from Templeton, Armstrong County, was killed Friday evening when the dirt bike he was riding went off a road and struck a tree, officials said.

Brandon Weaver was killed in neighboring Pine Township when the mishap occurred at around 7:50 p.m., according to a release from Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers.

The coroner said Weaver was riding on state Route 1030, about a half-mile from Templeton when he lost control and struck a tree. Weaver was pronounced dead at the ACMH Hospital Emergency Department in East Franklin.

The coroner said Weaver was not wearing a helmet.

No autopsy will be performed. Toxicology results are expected to take several weeks.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police in Kittanning and the coroner’s office.
