Ground has been broken and work is under way for the new Peebles Pavilion, an open-air classroom, at Peebles Elementary School.

A ceremony was held June 28 at the school. The Peebles Elementary Parent-Teacher Association Pavilion Committee presented a $50,000 check to pay for the cost of construction.

The pavilion is expected to be completed before the first day of school, Aug. 22, said North Allegheny spokeswoman Brandi Smith.

When finished, the pavilion will also have a brick walkway.

Susie Bjalobok, Peebles Elementary principal, has been posting images to the Peebles Twitter page: https://twitter.com/PeeblesElem.
