Pirates farm report for June 18, 2022: Greensboro pitchers throw pair of shutouts

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 31-32) lost to Gwinnett (Braves), 5-3. SS Oneil Cruz (.233) went 1 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. LF Ji-hwan Bae (.305) went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. CF Travis Swgaggerty (.276) went 1 for 4 and drove in a run. RHP Cody Bolton (3.05) started and gave up a run without allowing a hit in two innings. He walked two and struck out one. RHP Matt Eckelman (8.87) also worked two scoreless innings, giving up two hits and fanning four. RHP John O’Reilly (2-1, 5.95) took the loss, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks in 1.1 innings.

Next: Sunday at Gwinnett (Braves), 1:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 30-32) was blanked by Erie (Tigers), 7-0. RHP Austin Roberts started and worked one inning, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits, including a home run. RHP Noe Toribio (1.85) pitched four innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits. CF Matthew Fraizer (.217) and 1B Brendt Citta (.255) each went 2 for 4 with a double.

Next: Sunday vs. Erie (Tigers), 1 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 26-35) swept a doubleheader from Hudson Valley (Yankees), allowing a total of eight hits and no runs in two seven-inning games. In the opener, a 2-0 Grasshoppers win, RHP Nick Garcia (3-1, 3.31) threw a three-hit shutout, striking out four and walking none. CF Hudson Head (.224) went 2 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. LF Sammy Sianni (.238) was 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI.

In the second game, a 1-0 win for the Grasshoppers, RHP Sean Sullivan (1-3, 4.38) started and worked six innings, allowing five hits and three walks, striking out three. RHP Cameron Junker (3.27) struck out three and walked one in the seventh, allowing no hits for his sixth save. C Abrahan Gutierrez (.254) went 1 for 3 with an RBI, for Greensboro, which managed only three hits.

Next: Sunday vs. Hudson Valley (Yankees), 2 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 27-35) scored three in the eighth but couldn’t rally past Fort Myers (Twins), losing 5-4. 2B Deivis Nadal (.230) went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. RF Jase Bowen (.269) went 2 for 4, drove in a pair and stole his 18th base. RHP Aaron Shortridge (1.00) started and went three innings, giving up one run on one hit. RHP Darvin Garcia (0-2, 6.39) pitched the fourth and took the loss, allowing three runs, one earned, on three hits, including a homer. RHP Carlos Jimenez (3.22) pitched the last four innings, giving up one run on two hit with seven strikeouts.
