The Penguins can and need to do more this season, according to Mark Madden.
“I just think they are stale,” says Madden on this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” with Mark Madden and Tim Benz on TribLIVE’s Facebook page.
“We’re oozing optimism because they’ve had a very good regular season to date, although … very much a roller coaster of love. They just look stale to me.”
Madden says this team is much like the teams of the past three years, with the 2019 and 2021 teams losing in the first round of the playoffs.
“I’m a little more dubious that I was going into some of those other postseasons about their secondary scoring - even though it was really good in the season,” says Benz. “It’s wobbling now and they get one significant injury to their top six, even if Jason Zucker does come back, I think that could be a big problem.”
