Man charged with felony after Tarentum police pull over vehicle reported stolen

Tarentum police arrested a man accused of driving a stolen car after patrol officers spotted the vehicle traveling on Ross Street toward Route 28.
Tevin Randall Williams, 28, of Talisman Lane, Harrison, was charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property along with driving with a suspended license and traffic violations.
Police say two officers were on patrol shortly after midnight Feb. 3 when they saw a silver Dodge sedan near East 10th Avenue and Ross Street (Route 366), according to a criminal complaint.
Police stopped the car after a check of its registration showed that it was reported stolen out of Kittanning, the complaint said.
Williams, who was the driver, had a glass crack pipe in his pants pocket when officers searched him, according to police. Two other people in the car were detained briefly.
Investigators said Williams’ driver’s license is suspended for driving under the influence. He also has two prior convictions for driving while his license is suspended for DUI.
Court records show that Williams was arrested by East Deer police in January 2018 and pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to time served and six months of probation.
Williams’ record also shows convictions for drug possession, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fleeing from police and giving police false information.
Police said the stolen vehicle was impounded.
Williams was taken to the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh but was released from custody on $10,000 unsecured bond. He faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Carolyn S. Bengel on Feb. 16, according to court records.
