Irwin plans ‘Light Up Norwin’
“Light Up Norwin” in downtown Irwin — complete with the lighting of a Christmas tree and a parade — will be held Nov. 18.
The lighting of the tree at the S&T Bank parking lot at Third and Main streets will be held at 6:20 p.m., followed by the parade on Main Street at 6:30 p.m. Santa Claus will be at the tree following the parade.
The Norwin High School Show Choir will perform in The Lamp Courtyard at 5:45 p.m. The Lamp Theatre will host a train display inside the theatre.
Those attending are asked to use one of the four shuttles that will run from Calvary Church on Pennsylvania Avenue to the RCS Laundry on Main Street from 4:45 to 9 p.m.
The parking lots at Third and Fifth streets will be closed, as well at Main Street and the section of Fourth Street underneath the arch. There will be no parking on either side of the lower part of Third Street.
The event is sponsored by the Norwin Rotary Club.
Veterans mental health program slated
A mental health professional will present a program on veterans and mental health at 3 p.m. Nov. 23 at Come, Talk Inc., 321 Main St., Irwin.
Jennifer Herber, program director at Forge Health, will make the free presentation that is open to teens and adults. The organizations focuses on improving the mental health and well-being of active-duty service members, veterans, first responders and their families.
Light refreshments will be provided.
