Columnists Tim Benz and Mark Madden talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night on this week’s edition of “Unfiltered” on TribLIVE’s Facebook page.
While the Steelers were able to hold on and win 23-20 in overtime, Madden says they are a “below-average football team.”
Madden says that, “Their offensive didn’t do much … barely enough against the worst defense, perhaps in the history of football. (The Steelers) put together 23 points in over 60 minutes of football against a defense that coming into the game allowed an average of 450 yards per game.”
He doesn’t let the defense off the hook either. “The Steelers defense collapsed in the second half and allowed four scores.”
Madden does say that the linebacker T.J. Watt was brilliant and won the game for the team. While Cam Heyward and Alex Highsmith also made some good plays.
“That is not an elite defense. It’s an average defense, with a few elite players,” says Madden.
