Norwin girls volleyball team to hold ‘Pink Out’
The Norwin Lady Knights High School volleyball team will hold its annual Pink Out fundraiser game against Hempfield Area girls volleyball team on Oct. 7.
The junior varsity game will be held at 6 p.m. and the varsity game will be held at 7 p.m. at the Norwin High School gymnasium, 251 McMahon Ave.
Money raised from the event will go to the family of Mia Gill, a 2021 Norwin graduate battling a brain tumor. Supporters can follow her journey at @Mia’sMiracleNetwork on Facebook.
Tickets will be sold for chances to win Chinese auction baskets featuring gift cards from local businesses and auction items.
Spaghetti fundraiser dinner planned
A spaghetti dinner to raise money to support the mission projects of the New Hope Presbyterian Church fellowship hall, Lincoln Way, North Huntingdon, will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2.
Tickets for adults are $10 and $5 for children age 12 and younger.
Takeouts are available.
Those attending can buy a ticket to win an “Italian Opportunity Basket” to support Sage’s Army program aiding those with additions and suicide prevention.

St. Stephen church to sell pirohi
St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, 90 Bethel Road, North Huntingdon, will be selling potato cheese and lekvar pirohi in the church hall on Oct. 8, beginning at 10 a.m.
The price is $10 per dozen.
Norwin Democrats to meet Oct. 6
The Norwin Area Democratic Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Norwin Public Library, Caruthers Lane, Irwin.

New Hope Church plans blessing of pets
The Rev. Brenda Barnes will hold a Blessing of the Pets at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 12727 Lincoln Way, North Huntingdon, from noon to 2 p. m. Oct. 10.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church to hold craft, vendor show
A holiday craft and vendor show will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 2 at Mack Hall at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, North Huntingdon.
There will be about 40 tables of area crafters and vendors. There will be auction baskets, a raffle and concession stand.
Admission is free. The proceeds from this event benefit the church’s senior youth ministry. For details, call 724-864-6364.

Capital improvement projects on agenda
The Norwin School Board has hired the Mt. Lebanon firm that developed its master facilities plan to work with the district in proceeding with plans for capital projects.
VEBH Architects was hired at the board’s Sept. 20 meeting to work with the district to research and develop specifications for capital projects for the current fiscal year.
Among the proposed projects are repairing the roofs at all the schools and preventing water infiltration at the middle school, Hillcrest Intermediate School and elementary schools. Maintenance work is planned for the high school, the administration building, Knights Stadium and Hahntown Elementary School.
Money for the projects would come from the capital projects fund.
