Oakmont’s Sean Knapp could be on his way to a second U.S. Senior Amateur title.

Knapp finished tied for third in the stroke play portion of the championship to advance to match play at the Country Club of Detroit in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.

The Hannastown Golf Club member shot a 6-under-par 66 in the second round of the 36-hole stroke-play tournament to finish at 5-under 139 and earn the No. 3 seed for the Round of 64.

He made seven birdies and one bogey in his second round, carding 33 on each side.

Knapp, who won his debut in the event in 2017 and finished second in ’18, will take on Chip Nelson of Scottsdale, Ariz., in his opening match at 12:48 p.m.
